Myth #2

Livestock operations will pollute my groundwater (water quality)
  • Opponents say “A large scale livestock operation will make my water undrinkable.”
  • In truth, livestock operations have developed many ways to control livestock manure, seepage, and spills.  Actually, most manure from livestock facilities is used to put nutrients into the land and replaces commercial fertilizer.  Animal manure is important in maintaining water and mineral cycles on native rangeland.
